9 November 2009 RAGES attend a meeting arranged by National Express in Edinburgh to discuss the draft ECML timetable.
14 November 2009 East Coast takes over the ECML franchise.

20 December 2009 In the Modern Railways annual traction and rolling stock reliability review First ScotRail got a ‘Silver Spanner’ for a 42% increase for their 322 EMUs and Arriva CrossCountry Class 221 Voyager trains a ‘Golden Spanner’ for the most improved and best performing ‘new generation DMU’
