July 2004 The SRA had planned to withdraw two evening Dunbar services as part of the next ECML franchise. Nicol Stephen advised against this.

September 2004 Dunbar station in second place has been given a commendation as part of the National Rail Awards shortlist in the Best Small Station of the Year category. Berwick-Upon-Tweed Station came second in the medium sized station category.
